Both of these report types are based on a thorough inspection of the property. Most clients will choose the Homebuyers Survey Report where it is appropriate for the property concerned. It should be sufficiently comprehensive and is more economic in cost. It is less detailed than a Building Survey and is considered appropriate for residential properties built since 1900, using standard materials and techniques.
A Building Survey Report is appropriate for all properties, and is generally chosen where the Homebuyers Survey is not considered appropriate, including for older or larger properties or those perceived to be in poor condition. This report provides the buyer with a more in depth picture of the property.
